Why do we leave nothing to chance?

Because quality demands it. Our uncompromising zero-defect strategy and the profound quality awareness of our employees consistently take care of this.

Stelter quality management.

Our centrepiece is the statistical process control (SPC/SQMS), developed by us and consistently electronically supported. The quality management system rests on the pillars of goods receiving inspection, production, test labs and measurement rooms, as well as our QM certifications.

Our quality management is based on five pillars:

Mobile spectral analysis. No strays are let through.

Only the best materials are used in our gear production. We ensure the perfect quality of the raw material as soon as it is delivered using mobile spectral analysis devices.

Large series. No defects.

Anybody producing millions of gears around the clock in a 3-shift operation year after year cannot allow any unmonitored production steps. Even the slightest defect could compromise the quality of an entire large-scale production. In order to prevent sources of defects early in the production phase, we have developed our software “Stelter Quality Management System” (SQMS). This monitoring system is established in our production chain as a standard test procedure. All the parameters of quality control charts which are otherwise usually available are stored electronically, compared continuously with the actual data of the gears during production and displayed simultaneously on inspection monitors. In parallel, all measurement data is automatically saved so that statistical evaluations can be performed during the live process and exact documentation is available for the customer at any time.

The perfect material. Checked all the time!

Highly stringent requirements are placed on gears and drive systems. This applies to the developments of the automotive industry, as it does for special machinery or large gears; e.g. for wind power applications. The material is therefore of primary importance. In our state-of-the-art-equipped material testing laboratory, we examine materials physically, chemically and non-destructively. The determination of characteristic hardness curves and hardness penetration depths can be performed all the time. In addition to material testing, Stelter can check grinding burn, as well as perform ultrasound and laser weld seam inspections in fully automated fashion.

Everything under control. Quality is measurable!

As part of in-process quality assurance, the continuous measurement of components plays a big role. Our measuring rooms are equipped with the latest generation of measuring systems. In addition to conventional measuring equipment, this also includes CNC measuring machines from Klingelnberg, MITUTOYO and Zeiss for all the geometric characteristics of our product range.

Certified to IATF 16949:2016.

Our quality management system functions according to the most stringent criteria checked by independent institutions. We have consistently undergone certification to the latest automotive standards since 1998. Since 2018, successful certification to the latest requirements of IATF 16949:2016 has been in place.
